Heart,
a pair.
The candle I started with — and the reason for everything that followed. Six hearts to a 24 cm cream taper, three to a side, so it reads from every angle. Cut by hand from chilled sheets of coloured wax, pressed on one at a time. Cherry red is the loud one. Burgundy is for tables in the evening. Rosewater and dusty rose are for the ones who like it softer.

How to burn
The wick comes already trimmed to the right length, so you can light it straight away. The motifs are cut from coloured wax and pressed on, not painted on — as the candle burns down, they soften and blend in. If you want to keep the last decorated section as a keepsake, blow it out with about 4 cm to go.
Care
Never leave a burning candle alone. Store your candles somewhere cool and dark — in a warm summer window, coloured wax softens and picks up fingerprints. If a taper warps slightly in transit, roll it gently between your palms for 30 seconds and it'll straighten.
